quarterly meeting of Court Woodford A.0.F., No. 6583/ Kaiapoi, was held in the Orange Hall on Monday evening, and in spite of the. unfavourable weather there was a large muster of members; Bro GL SimpsoD, C.E., in the chair. The Woodwards reported several members on the sick fund, and that in some cases the by-laws had not been complied with. The Secretary wa? instructed to confer with the medical officers on sundry matters relating t •> Bick members. The Government valuation report wa3 received and laid before the members. It showed the Court to be in a prosperous position, a Eubstantial Burpliiß being shown. The delegates to the Friendly Societies Fete Committee reported the arrangements made forthe trip t? Diamond harbour, and asked the loan of £12 10_, share of guarantee for train, which waa granted. The balan.e-sheet of tbe late church parade was also received and adopted. The Secretary congratulated the Court upon now being able to return over one hundred financial members to the district, which entitled representation at the district meeting by two delegates, and Bro3 H. Barden and J. W. Barnard, P.C.E.'s., were elected delegates to attend the meeting at Dun.andel. Bro W. Simpson, P.C.E , was nominated for S.C.E. of the district, and Bro T. G. Blackwell, P.D.C.E., was elected on the Distiict Appeal Committee. One member was admitted on clearanse and one transferred from the Juvenile Court. After passing the accounts tho Court 'was closed by the CE. The quarterly receipts amounted to £109 9s 4d. The quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Cust Lodge, 1.0.0.F.,M.U., was held on Tuesday evening. There was a good attendance of brethren, the N.G. Bro J. Webster presiding. Correspondence was received from the District Secretary, forwarding a supply of the new rules and a digest of the business to be transacted at the district meeting to be held at Eangiora on Oct. 14. The Lodge decided to present the widow of a deceased brother with a framed Past Grand's certificate. A lengthy discussion ensued as ts the question of endeavouring to secure a medical practitioner to reside at Cuat, with the result tbat Past Grands Bros O'Farrel, Searles and Hassall were appointed a subcommittee to take action. P.G. Bro Searles was elected delegate to the district meeting. The report of the Government Valuer was received, and was deemed gatisfactory both as regarded fundß and membership. In connection with the Cust Lodge the average sickness amounted to four weeks per annum per member, and the average siok pay per member 17s per week, which in both instances was less than the Valuer's expectation. During the quinquennium £215 had been paid away in benefits ; at the beginning of that period the amount to credit of sick fund was £406, and at the end £631. The consideration of a notice of motion as to forming a juvenile Lodge had, on account of the late hour, to be adjourned until next meeting, to which the members are summoned, to receive a repot t regarding the appointment of a medical officer. One candidate was proposed for membership, and a large amount of routine business wa. transacted. Court Fore3terß' Pride, Waimate, held a " social " in the Library building on Wednesday night, the main object of the entertainment being an endeavour to clear an overdraft on the local Bpoit. account.
