Waimakariri Harbour Board.

The monthly meeting of the Waimakariri Harbour Board was held on Monday evening: present— Mr Liesaman (Chairman), and Messrs Parnham, Hiatfc, Doubleday, | Butt, Horrell, Matthews and Hopkins. The Pilot's report was received. It Btated that the depth on the bar was twelve feet— the river had been Btaked along a portion. The Pilot asked for the help of a man for signalling crafts coming over the bar. It was agreed that the members of the Board go down the river on Thursday, starting at 10 a.m., to decide what steps should be taken as to placing beacons and other mattera. Mr Matthews, Chairman of the Worka Committee, reported that tho dredge would complete ita present work in about a fortnight. The Pilot was instructed to obtain the depth of the channel by next meeting. The Finance Committee reported the receipts to be 49 6d, expenditure £50 7s Bd,'and the amount of debentures v£225. A list of the Board's tenants with the amount owing by each, was presented, and the Secretary was instructed to obtain, the sums outstanding. A vote of ihanks was passed to the Finance Committee for tho report. The question of keeping the properties of the Board in proper repair was left with the Secretary. It waß decided that all the insurance policies be held by the Board, and any properties not insured should be at once insured by the Board and charged to tho defaulting lessees. It was resolved that seventy-five willow saplingß lie cut and prepared ready for tho pilot to place them where required on both sides of the river. It was agreed to accept Mr Manning ai tenant in place of the late Mr Gr. H. Wearing. It was resolved to enforce tho charge of 2d a ton on all tonnage towards helping the Board in carrying on the river improvements. It wai decided to hold a special meeting nest Monday, at 7.30 p.m., to amend and add to the present by-laws, and to invite offers

for Beetion No. 1, lately held by G. H. Wearing.
