♦ CHEISTCHUECH. This Day. (Before E. Westenra and E. P. Lonargan, Ssqs.) Drunkenness. — Three first offenders were each fined 5s with costs aud cab hire, in default the usual alternative.— 'Another first offender, who was unfit to appear, was remanded for sevea days, some friends of his agreeing to take charge of him in the meantime. Riotous Behaviour and Obbcenb Language. — Bella Smith was charged with being a common piostitute, with behaving in a riotous manner and with using obscene language in a public place, namely, High street, on Sept. 4. Mr Donnelly appeared for the accused, who pleaded "Not guilty." Constables Christie and Eamsay gave evidence supporting the charge, accused and another witness denying it. The accused was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labour. (Before E. Beetham, Esq., E.M., and H. J. Hall, Esq.) Civiii Cases.— Judgment by default with costs waß given for plaintiffs in the following cases:— W. Brice t. C. Maguiness claim £2 8s 6d ; A. Philpott v. E.Johnston £3 10s, Mr Stringer for plaintiff. — In the case of W. Sullivan v. Otto Schneider claim £1 3s, one week's wages in lieu of notice, in which Mr Donnelly appeared for plaintiff, judgment was given for defendant.— C. Henrick v. G. Fuller claim 18s 6d for work done. Judgment was given for plaintiff for 4s.— Thomas Griffin v. John Bradley, claim £49 16s, on account of an alleged breach of agreement in regard to letting a paddock. Mr Donnelly for plaintiff, Mr Stringer for defendant. This case was heard at Leeaton on Friday last, when judgment was reserved. Their Worships now gave judgment for defendant in equity and good conscience, with costs £2 153.
