Savage Club.

F • The present season of the Christchurch Savage Club was closed last evening with a very successful "korero" at the Oddfellowa' Hall. The Savages had departed from their ÜBual custom and had invited the ladies to join their " horde " for the evening. The hall was nicely fitted up, the stage being embellished with imple- | mentß of savage warfare. The proceed- | ings were commenced with an opening j ode, composed by Bro Savage E. W. Eoper, : and set to music by Miss Nora Gardner, ; which was well rendered by a number jof "braves." The President, Bro Savage Wynn-Williams, then gave an address, after which Bro Savage Lomax-Smitn sang "Salutation to the Squaws," which had been specially composed by one of the "braves." Savage Gardner sang "Largo al Factotum," and Savage A. J. Merbon played a mazurka on the pianoforte. Savage Woodhouse contributed in good style " If Thou Didst Love Me/ Savage B. A. Worthy following with a quaint song, entitled "Lord Eeginald and the Lady Mary," a lamentable ballad of golf. Savage Hugh Eeeveß contributed MarziaFs "Ask Nothing More." Mr H. Weir was encored for his singing of " Douglas Gordon," and a good deal of amusement was caused by Savage von Haaßt's "Canary Song." During the evening " yarns " i were contributed by Savages Dr Jennings, I G. P. Williams, E. Beetham and W. W. Collins. The Estudiantina Band, under the leadership of Mr E. J. Painter, played "Sappho" and "Dresdina"in very good style, and were heartily applauded. The "squawa" seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves, and the first " Wahine" night of the Savage Club was a decided success. A number of the officers of the Nautilus were present.
