Pollard's Liliputian Opera Company.
The bollard Liliputian Opera Company cloßed its season at the Theatre Eoyal last evening with a double bill, when a complimentary benefit wag tendered to Miss Maud Beatty. This young lady, who was born in Christchurch, joined the Company about two yeara ago, and during that tim c h as made great strides in her profession. That she has established heraelf as a favourite was evidenced by the applause with which the large andienca greeted her appearance last night, and by the frequent recalls she received throughout the evening. The curtain rose on the second act of The Gondoliers, in which Miss Beatty, who took the part of Guiaeppe, was the recipient of '. a handsome basket of flowers for her , singing of " Kising Early in the Morning," 1 Miss Mitchell getting a triple encore and : several bouquets for her rendering of "Take ; a Pair of Sparkling Ejes." The castanet : dance had to be repeated three times. ; The second part of the programme was i taken up with Slaughter's comic natirical i opera, An Adamless Eden, or Woman's > Franchise. The mußic waß good, and the [ young people did justice to it, and entered i with spirit into the fun o the piece.
