Land for Settlement.
+ [Special to the "Star."*! WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. The Surveyor- General, Mr Percy Smith, who has left for the Cheviot estate, intends to go south as far as Dunedin, and will convene meetings of the Boards appointed under the Act providing for the acquisition of land for settlement. He is to be absent for about three weeks. It is probable that arrangements will be completed for the eale of the Cheviot land about the end o£ next mouth.
