GENERAL MEETING.
A genial meeting of the Canterbury 1 Kugby UxTion wbet held at the Clarendon I Hotel lsat Weniog. There was a good [attendance it delegated and Br Jennings !(\Vice-preßidtntO) ooenpned the chair. The Hon Secwtary (Mt T. B. CressweD) TQbd a letter trorse Dr Jertnings, thanking tfc'e- Union for appointing' him a Vice- | president. The reaignatfon of Mr G. H, JUason bb a delegate of the Eas9 Cbristcfturch Clob was Sfccepted, and Mr F. D. Kealeven was appoicted to fill the petition. Mr 6. W. Forbes* vras elected a tasaftet of tho Committee. • ■■■•■ Mr Gtoeswell reported-' vrhai had been done at the conference of delegates from the Cantesßtirj*, Otago and' SoutbJand Eogby Umow at DanedhfOD Saturday evening. "Restated that a' BtMng feeling of harmony exSrted betweea» the three Unions represented at the conference. The Canterbfcry delegates nwe treated with great ceactesy by the 6\a>%o dele* gates. : • • The motions psßßed at the conference were then taken and, after a loDg 'discussion, were 'agreed to, Messza* 3. W. Forbes and F. m'■ Kestered, the East Christcharch ClalKs- delegates alon» diesenting. The Chairman \ Mid the Union was greatly indebted td»itß 'delegates for the manner in which they had worked in *he .intorests of the Tffim. The decisitma arrived at at the cotrference would furtbsr the cause of Eugby Sbotball iatbeSfiuSh Island. , Ori the motion of MrCooke, seconded by Mr Cnrrie, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Cresßwell and Harris for attending the conference. Mr G. W. Forbes, ptfreaant to notice, moved—" That the motion, • That no Club affiliated to the Canterbury Eugby Union be allowed to play any Club affiliated to the New Zealand Eugby Union/ passed at a previous meeting, bereacinded." The motion was seconded by Mr MareKall and carried. Mr T. S. Marshall moved— " That the motion stating that the Canterbury Union would not play the annual match with South Canterbury be rescinded." The motion was seconded by Mr Forbes aud carried. Iv reply to a question, the Secretary stated that the annual match with Otago would in all probability be played at Lancaster Park on Sept. 2. A -match with Southland would probably be played on August 31. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting.
