A HOSPITAL SCANDAL.
[Per Press Association.]
WANGANUI, JvhT 24. The following is the report of Dr Macgregor on the hospital scandal, to be placed on the table of the House, and published in the Herald to-night:—-" In-spector-General's Office, Wellington, July 10,1893. The Hon W. P. Beeves. Sir,— I have the honour to inform you that, according to your instructions, I proceeded to Wanganui and made careful enquiry into the allegations of improper conduct on the part of one of the Hospital nuraeß. I found that the nurse whose conduct is in question had been guilty of impropriety with one of the male patients, and had consequently neglected her duty, and also that the authorities had leaned too much to the Bide of mercy in judging her con- ■ duct.—l am, &c, D. Macgbegob." Tbe Herald says that the official report is no% in accordance with Dr Macgregor's statement to it, the word impropriety being substituted for immorality. MEASLES. WELLINGTON, July 24. Tho City Council is not paying medical men for reporting measles, not considering that the disease is highly infectious. SALMON AND GAME. DUNEDIN, July 24. At the meeting o£ the Council of th© Acclimatisation Society, the manager reported that the parent salmon in stock for some time were not so prolific this year, and in view of their becoming fewer he thought it might be wise to give them their liberty. The young salmon, ex Kaikoura, were not doing so well as could bs wished, a considerable number of them dying from deformity of the umbilical sac. A resolution was carried that tbe export, in a frozen state, of any game whatever should be prohibited, and the law should be so amended as to entirely prevent . dealing with Native or imported game, frozen or otherwise, out of Beason.
