EVIDENCE BY PRISONERS.
SYDNEY, July 24. An important point was decided in full Court to-day by five judges to two, the effect of which is to hold that silence on the part of a prisoner oould be commented s on and used as evidence against him. MARINE ENQUIRY. NEWCASTLE, July 24. The Marine Board has called on Captain Thorpe, of the steamer Elingaurite^ and Lewis, second officer, to show cause why ' the collision with the schooner Guiding ; Star, which was cut in two, Bhould not bo attributed to their want of vigilance.
