Football.

[Special to Pbess Association.] SYDNEY, June 21. The following team will represent New South Wales in the match against the New Zealand Rugby Union team :—Fallback, M'Mahon ; three-quarters, Moses, Barrie and Wickham; halves, Surman, Abbott and Thomaß; forwards, Hanlon, Beech, Sawyer, M'Murdo, Allport, Manlome, Crowell, Alcock and Huddlestone. [Per PeeBs Association.! WELLINGTON, June 21. The weather is drizzling and bad for the football match. It is not likely to clear. In deference to the wishes of the Auckland and other Unions, instead of playing the Now Zealand team against Wellington the game haß been rearranged, and the presumably strongest fifteen of ; picked representatives will play again&t the rest, helped by seven local men." ] The rearrangement has entirely spoiled ■' the match as far as local interest is concerned, as the fifteen representing Wellington was expected to make a good fight, ; and possibly win. The game has now . resolved itself into another trial match, i about which no excitement can be got up j and this, in conjunction with the bad weather, will entirely spoil the attendance. The following are the teams :— New Zealand— Full-back, Darcy (Wairarapa) ; three-quarters, Jervis (Auckland), i Wynyard (Wellington) and Gage (Welj lington) j halves, Herrold (Auckland) and : Butland (West Coast) ; wing forwards, Gardner (South Canterbury) and M'Kenzie i (Wairarapa) ; forwards, Ellison (WeliingI ton), Lambie (Taranaki), Hiroa (Hawke's Bay), Murray (Auckland), Speight (Auckland), Cockroft (Manawatu) and Pringle (Wellington). { Combined team — Full-back, Wilson (Wellington) ; three-quarters, Good (Taranaki), Bayley (Taranaki) and Harper (NelBon)j halves, Shannon (Manawatu) and Baumber (Wellington); wing forwards, Oliphant (Wellington) and Kelly (Wellington) j forwards, Hyland (Wellington), I Mowlem (Manawatu), Bishop (Wellington), M'Lean (Wellington), M'lntoah (South Canterbury), Thompson (Wellington) and A. Campbell (Wellington). The New Zealand team, on paper, is much stronger than the other, and on every ground, except the possibility of the I team leaving under the cloud of a nominal

defeat, the change is for the worse. Ellison captains the team to-day. The Governor will not go out to the football match, owing to the weather, much to the disappointment of the people of Petone, who had made great preparations to welcome his first visit to their town.
