Escape of a Prisoner.
WANGANUI, June 19. A man named George Harper escaped from the prison gang whilst working among the trees surrounding the Museum site this afternoon. Harper, who is an old offender, was only sentenced a week ago at Falmerston North for false pretences. The district is. carefully watched* and it is expected that the man will be recaptured without much trouble. He iB in prison clothes, and without boots or hat.
