WELLINGTON NEWS.

[FROM OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Jun_ 19.. THE session. The session is casting its Bhadow as usual, hut at present the Bhadow is vague. One thing is certain, Mr G. F. Richardson is bent on carrying out his programme of attack on the Public Works Statement of last year, aa that programme was very fully given in Mr Riohardson's speech to his constituents. Mr Richardson has had a long interview with the Speaker (who, by the way, is here looking well and hearty) on the modus operandi, and seems disposed to raise a question of privilege. Whatever he does he will raise a sensation, and perhaps consume a day or two's time. The Opposition, I fancy, from what I can hear and see, intends to attack the surplus. I shall not be surprised to Bee it devote a long debate to whittling it down, and to some other things. Questions about removals of officers, demands for explanation of the non-publication of Colonel Fox's report, protests against the dummyism cases, insinuations about the work of the West Coast Native Reserves Act of last year, calla for Native land legislation, and the Cheviot purohase will afford, opportunities to a determined body of critics, who, like Mr Scobie Mackenzie, smell rats where thore are none. Some suspicious patriots are cudgelling their brains what to do to form an alliance with Sir George Grey, who has an idea that the unearned increment ought not to have been included in the price of Cheviot; but being suspicious they are unhappy, for they think (1) that Sir George Jrey may not quite mean it, and (2); that what he may mean is to sell them.
