Hallet, surveyor, called by Mr Reeß, gave his opinion on the relative values of the Umataoroa and adjacent blocks. The Umataoroa block, on the unimproved value, was the more valuable. F. C. Bierre, Clerk to the Danevirke Road Board, said that the Umataoroa block was more valuable than the Oringi. A . portion of the block now in dispute had been sold at £5 per acre and smaller sec- | turns at from 4510 to JBIS per acre. Land was not readily procurable at Danevirke, people not being willing to sell.
