CRICKET.
■» [Special to Pbsss Association.] LONDON, Junk 18. The St James' Gazette says that unless the Australian cricketers speedily show a decided improvement in form, their tour is likely to be a failure from the purely sporting standpoint. The team seems to have fallen off. In the cricket match between Lancashire and Notts, the former won by four wicketa. Yorkshire at present heads the first class cricket Counties, having won all five ' matches up to date. The Australians attribute their poor exhibition of batting to the rough state of the Oval, and make similar complaints against the grounds of the County Clubß on which they have played. la the event of Lord Sheffield failing to get together a team to visit Australia next season, it is hoped that the Melbourne and Sydney Clubs will arrange for the tour of an English eleven through the Australian Colonies.
