CANTEEBUBY EUGBY UNION. A general meeting of the Canterbury j Bugby Union waß held at the Clarendon ' Hotel laßt evening. The President, Mr A. E. G. Bhodes occupied tbe chair, and ' twenty-nine delegates were present, all the principal affiliated Clubs being resented. < , Mr G. Harris (Christchurch) moved— i " That tbe Selection Committee this year consist of three." j The motion waß seconded by Mr G. W. ; Forbes (East Christchurch), and carried , without dissent. I Messrs W. J. Cotterill, G. Harris and C. W. Garrard were elected the Selection Committee for this season. Messrs Cotterill and Harris were members of last year's \ Committee. j j Mr H. Frost (Christchurch) moved— I " That the Canterbury Eugby Union I i regrets its inability to play the annual ' j match with South Canterbury." j Mr P. Triggs (Linwood) seconded the ; j motion, which was carried, Messrs Forbes, j Marshall and Lowry dissenting. The Chairman expressed his regret that ! the motion was carried. i Mr Allardyce (Sydenham) moved— " That no Club affiliated to this Union be allowed to play any Club affiliated to the New Zealand Bugby Union." Mr W. Hoban (Sydenham) seconded the motion, which, after a discussion, was carried by nineteen to eleven. Mr Forbeß gave notice to move—" That the subscription of each Club's delegate be reduced from £1 Is to 10a Gd." MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Committee was held subsequently ; present— Mr A. E. G. Bhodes (in the chair), and Messrs G. Harris, W. Balch, F. T. Evans, G. H. Mason, T. S. Marshall, H. Frost and T. B. Cresswell, Hon Sec. A letter was read from the North Canterbury Football Club, protesting against tbe Junior Flag match between the North Canterbury and Linwood teams being awarded to the latter Club, on the ground that the weather on Saturday last was unfit for football. At a meeting of the Committee of the North Canterbury Club held on June 13, it was decided to aek the Union to declare the . matches played at Bangiora on Saturday last null and void. A discussion followed, and Mr Mason eventually moved — " That the Committee regrets that it cannot see its way to accede to the request of the North Canterbury Club." Mr Evans seconded the motion, which was carried, Mr Styche dissenting. On the motion of Mr Mason, seconded by Mr Froßt, the action of the Postponement Committee in postponing the matches on Saturday last after the time notified in the rules was approved* The following grounds were fixed for the matches on June 17 and 24:— Jnne 17: Canterbury College v. Christchurch and Sydenham v. Merivale, at the old show grounds; Linwood v Kaiapoi, at Kaiapoi. June 24 : Sydenham v. Canterbury College and Merivale v. East Christchurch, at Lancaster Park ; Linwood v. Christchurch, at the old show grounds. After passing a few accounts and disposing of some routine business, the meeting closed.
