A HORRIBLE OCCURRENCE. | Special to f'BKHH association, i MELBOURNE, Apbil 9. A winch on the top of a building in course of erectiou in Collins street collapsed, and a flying fragment completely decapitated Rogers, the engineer, whoae head was thrown to the opposite side of the street. Several passers-by were slightly injured, and a number of women fainted at the horrifying spectacle.

On Saturday afternoon Mr. E. Cheaterman, a platelayer employed on the Cast section of the Bangiora-Oxford railway line, had his left eye severely injured through an iron tool he and his mate were using bounding up and striking it. He was brought to Bangiora and was attended by Dr Clayton. It is feared that the sight of the eye is permanently injured, and that probably, the eye will have to be removed. The sailing boat Waratah, in which four men lost their lives on the Sumner bar on Sept. 11, met with another capsize yesterday afternoon in the estuary. The boat left New Brighton in the morning, having the owner, Mr S. Bull, and. his father and brother on board. During the afternoon she stuck on the mud-flats, and the occupants threw out all the ballast to try and get her off. The Fy thon passed her, and seeing that she was in bad trim, th.6 crew kept an eye on her, and when five hundred yards away saw her capsize and. the occupanta in the water. The Python was at once put about, and Mr E. Barlow and his companions went to the assistance of the. men and got them out of their difficulty/ Two other boats, the Petrel and the Playmate^ also went to their assistance.
