A meeting in aid of the Belief Fund is to be held in, the Fendalton district schools room at 8 p.m. to-morrow. To-morrow evening a meeting of the representatives of the various Friendly Societies in Sydenham will be held in the. Borough Council Chambers, for the pur^ pose of considering what steps shall be_ : taken to raise funds towards the relief of the Queensland sufferers. The Pioneer Bicycle Club will hold a special general meeting this evening at the roomß, Cathedral square, to arrange for holding a race meeting in aid of .the Belief Fund. The last of the very successful fire ffites held at Professor Bickerton'a residence, Tahuna Park, will be given to-morrow evening in aid of the Belief Fund. The Professor has provided a very attractive programme, and the New Brighton Tramway Company will give its share of the receipts to the Fund. Mrs Eden George has issued invitations to a number of ladies, asking them to meet in the City Council Chamber on Wednesday afternoon, at three o'clock, to organise means for the disposal of tickets for the various entertainments about to be held in Christchurch for the benefit of the Belief Fund. The bands performance, which was postponed on Friday night owing to the unfavourable nature of the weather, will take place this evening in Latimer square, when the programme which has already been published will be given, and a collection made towards the Belief Fand. Oh Thursday evening the employees of the Eailway Department at Lyttelton met to consider what action should be taken in showing their sympathy with the Queensland sufferers. Mr J. Ashley, stationmaster, occupied the chair. It tvas decided to form a Committee to collect from the staff, and that the money should be expended in the purchase of produce, &c, which should go with the contributions from the town of Lyttelton. The sum of jSIO was collected in the room, and Mr W. Barker was appointed Treasurer. It was understood by those subscribing that the list would be presented again that day four weeks. • Mr Herrick desires to acknowledge the following gifts of material for the Qaeensland Belief Fand, also to sincerely thank all givers and workers for their hearty response and help. As he desires to send off the gifts this week, be Btates that he will not require more material, there being enough on hand to work up : — Mra L. S. Manning, 24yds homespun, 12yds print ; Miss Maude. Manning, 12yds serge; Mrs Manning, dress piece; Mrs C, 15yds flannelette; Mrs Barnett. 3 pieces and 14 garments; Mr Knipe 3a 6d, E.K. 2s 6d, 8.8. 2s 6d, Papanui friend 10s, and Mr Hiddeston 5b for material r Normal Sohool girle, a patchquilt ; Mrs .Wilding, 4 pieces flannelette and print ; Mrs T. Nicholson; Ohoka, calico ; Mrs Milne, Halswell, dress stuff; Hoon Hay friend, 6 assorted pieces. Should any person desire to send a single garment, Mr Herrick will pack it in the case being sent by the Mission Home, it it is left at the Home before Wednesday.
