MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE.

The Executive Committee met at eleven o'clock this morning. 1 The Christchurch Press Company forwarded J845 18a, which they had received from various sources and had acknowledged. The Manager desired it to be known that in nearly every case the donors desired the money to be expended in clothing or produce. The Mayor said that he found a general deaire that this should be the case, and he proposed bringing the matter forward at a future meeting of the Executive. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reported that various donors had sent ninety 501 b bags, twentyseven 1001 b bags, and twenty-six sacks of flour. The receipts for the day, as detailed elsewhere, were £102 12s 3d, making a total of £565 12s 6d. The North Belt Presbyterian Church wrote, stating that the proceeds of next Sunday's offertory would be devoted to the relief fund, and enquiring if the Executive would advertise this, or whether the church officers should. The Committee decided that they would 1 advertise all churches that intimated their intention of giving their offertories to the relief fund. The Rev G. Hounsell, pastor of the United Methodist Free Church, will give an address on " Life in Queensland/ at the ohurch on Wednesday next. The proceeds of the collection which will be made will be given to the central relief fund. The reverend gentleman was a resident of Queensland for many years, and hiß address will be of considerable interest.

At the Baptist Tabernacle yesterday* subscription lists were opened on behalf of the Queensland Belief Fund. It was announced that the subscription list would be left open on Sunday nest. It was stated that money or parcels of clothing would be thankfully received during this week by Mr Beardalev, Manchester street : Mr Olney, Liohfield street; Mr S. K. Ingold, High street} and Messrs H. Corrick, Colombo street; Toneycliffe and Carey, Colombo street ; any of the church officers, or at the Tabernacle. The officers of Friendly Societies and others are reminded that a meeting will be held in the City.CounoU Chambers this evening (Monday) at 7.30 to confer as to the Demonstration on March 9, in aid of the Queensland Belief Fund. An interesting service was held on Sunday last in the Native Church at Banpaki Pah. The Bey J. Foster, of Dunedin, conduoted the service, Mr D. Bone reading the lessons. At the conclusion .of the sermon Mr C. Tikao announced that it was intended to take up a collection on behalf of the sufferers from the Queensland floods. The sum of £2 2s 6d was then contributed. When it is remembered that there are only about ten inhabited houses in the pah, this generous expression of praotical sympathy with distant suffering redounds greatly to the credit of the residents of Banpaki, and is worthy of all emulation, j In the current number of the New Zealand If at* Cry, members of the Salvation Army in New Zealand are urgently invited by Colonel Bailey to send forward any contributions in money or kind for the relief of their Buffering brethren in Queensland. These contributions will be received at the head-quarters in Christohurch.
