♦ THE HON J. M'KENZIE AT BLENHEIM. [Pbb Pbbss Association.] BLENHEIM, Feb. 23. ! The Hon J. M'Kenzie addressed a crowded meeting in Blenheim to-night. Mr Buiok, M.H.8., owing to the illnesa of the Mayor, was the Chairman. The Minister defended the land policy of the Government, and explained that the Ministry, before taking over the Cheviot estate, had employed three different sets of valuers, showing an average profit of over ,840,000 on the purchase. A syndicate had offered to purchase the estate, but of course the Government had no interest in selling, or any intention* to Bell, when it took over the land. The speaker said 30,000 aores of. agricultural land would be placed on the market in October, and the balance left for twelve months, or until the survey was completed. The _ whole scheme wonld be submitted to Parliament. The Minister then dealt with the question of the Marlborough waste lands, giving every satisfaotion to the settlers. A vote of thanks to Mr M'Kenzie and of confidence in the Government, waß declared carried. ■
