A large number of persons came by train last night, and people from all parts flocked into town this morning. The weather is tough,. half a gale blowing from the southeast,' and there are slight indications of rain. ' The following are results : — First Handicap Hurdle Race, of 60 aovs ; about one mile ; and a half — Songster (flolmes) 1, Whalebone (Johnston) 2, Tattler (Crocker) 3. These were the only etarierß. Won by a long head after a desperate finish. Time— 3min 3O£seo. Dividend, £2 17a. First Handicap Hack Hurdles, of 30 sovsj about; ' one mile and a quarter— "Union Jack (Crocker) 1, Darebin 2, Pembroke 3. Time~2min 34|e6c. Dividend £U6b. TABANAXI JOCKEY CLUB HANDICAP, of 250 soys ; second horse 20 sots, and third 10 soys from the stake. One mile and a half. Tulloch. (Hodson) 1 Krina ... (Murphy) 2 iDurus ... (Jphnßton) 3 Boulanger, FraternittS, Bangipuhi, Violence, and Sarus also ran. Tulloch led all the way, ridden well by Hodson, in the face of the wind, and won by a couple of lengths. There was a great fight for second place. Time — 2min 4|aec. Dividend £25 6a. First Handicap Hack Race, of 30 soys ; one mile — Melos 1, Thunderbolt 2, Cutlass 3. Won by half a length.
