TREASURY BILLS.

The ißßue of South Australian Treasury bills has been an unqualified success. The amount which the Treasurer asked for was a quarter of a million, while the Bum investors were willing to place totalled over a million. The Government was advised by the Engli&h agents some time, ago that if .£600,000, the balance from the last South Australian loan were floated, it would have to be offered at 92. As the previous sale of inscribed stock was at 95£,. and as there was nothing in the position or prospects of the Colony to warrant a reduction in the price, Mr Rounsevell declined to float a loan in the English market on the suggested basis, and decided on the course adopted, £4 11s 3d per cent on five years' currency, principal and interest payable in Adelaide. Several applications were made for small amounts, while some large tenders were also handed in.
