Christchurch Poultry Show
The total entries received for this show, which opens at the Tuam street hall on Thursday, July 28, number 901, beingfar in excess of any previous exhibitions held in Christchurch. Birds will compote from Napier, Wellington, Nelson, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin and Invercargill, besides the Canterbury exhibits. The show, as regards both quality and numbers, promises to be a great success this year. The numbers of the entriea in the various breeds are as follow :— Game 59, Dorkings VJ, Cochins 47, Brahmaa 41, Langshans 22, Plymouth Bocks 28, Orpingtons 12, Houdans 2, Wyandottes 39, Minorcas 31, Leghorns 0(5, Spanish IG, Andalusians 2G, Hamburgs 64, Polish 4, Redcaps S, selling classes 32, Bantams 11, Duckß 3G, Carriers 3, Dragons 25, Tumblers 10, Flying Tumblers 23, Barbs 20, Jacobins 7, Fantails 10, Baldbeads 14, Beards 8, Nuns 4, Owls 11, Turbits 5, Magpies 9, Antwerps 54, any othor variety 3, selling classes 12, Homers 13, flying race 29, Canaries 71, pets 2, exhibition only 5. At a meeting of the Committee held recently it wa3* resolved to rent a room in High Btreet, next to the Empire Hotel, to display the art union prizes and for the sale of the tickets. It whs also decided to hold a supper on the first night oC the Bhow.
