PARLIAMENTARY.

(JTBOH OUB OWN COBEEBPONDENT.]

WELLINGTON, June 10.

The situation to-day iB amusing, the Government supporters rolling up and rallying as fast as Government could desire ; but the Opposition is slow in movement, and languid. A caucus of the Opposition was to have been held to-morrow, but the inten-

tion has now been abandoned. The head has no body. A local paper recently described the Opposition aa the moat intellectual ever seen in the Colony, a description which tickles immensely. It iB certainly the feeblest Opposition yet seen, with neither a following, organisation, or programme. Mr Buick, the seconder of the Addrese-in-Reply, is in town. Mr M'Guire, the mover, is expected hourly. I learn that the intention of the Government iB to proceed with the Address on Friday. No time is to be loat throughout the session. Aa the day proceeds the palpablenesa of the Opposition becomeß more apparent. The Chairmanship of Committees is*a good deal discussed. Messrs Saunders, Smith, and Hamlin are talked of amongst the Government supporters. All three find friends, and the superior merits of Mr Hamlin are frankly admitted. Mr Seddon is trying to arrange for the Hunterville Railway section for the unemployed. The Government is making strenuous efforts, but no more unemployed can be engaged for fourteen days than are now engaged. Mr Mackay, one ( of the Native Land Commissioners, has not yet Bent in his report to the Ministry. His two colleagues' reports have been received. Mr M'Clean, the veterinary surgeon for the Stock Department, is at Tauranga enquiring into diseases among sheep.
