Accidents and Fatalities.
SUDDEN DEATH. Mr Ricliard Marrack, a well-known resident of Christchurch, died yesterday evening at the Zetland Arms from choking while taking hia tea in the public dining room of the hotel. Mr Marrack was not in the habit of staying at the Zetland, but, having attended the Addington market during the day, lie called there and said he was going to stay for the night. He was sitting near the head of the table, and was conversing with Mr Walker, when suddenly the latter noticed something wrong ard called the waiter, who led Mr Marrack into another room. Mr Walker then telephoned for Dr Robinson, and sent a messenger for Dr Patrick, both of whom arrived shortly, but only to find Marrack dead. He had been eating Irish stew, and it is supposed that in talking a piece had lodged in his throat, causing suffocation. The deceased was formerly a butcher in Colombo street, but has recently been reniding in tho Selwyn district. He waa not married, and is believed to have been fifty-two years of age.
