THE MALVERN ELECTION.
The election of a Licensing Committee for the Halvern district resulted in. favour of the Moderates. The numbers polled were as follow: — G. Butherford 94, J. Praßer 81, J. Cunningham 81, C. Beach 76, C. Gamble 75, J. Jebson 73, J. W. Preßtidpe 69, G. Eobertßon 68, J. Maxwell 65, A. J. Daveysl. The annual meeting of the Malvern Licensing Committee wa&held at the Boad Board Office, Sheffield,, yesterday. Mr George Rutherford was chosen Chairman for the ensuing three years. The police reports were favourable, and renewals of all the licenses in the district were granted. The Committee decided to give permission to licensees to extinguish lights at the hour of closing. [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 2. At Featberston the police reported unfavourably on the manner in which all the hotels in the borough had been conducted, and the Chairman of the Licensing Committee said that if the houses were not better conducted during the next twelve months they would be closed if it were within the law.
