ADDINGTON YARDS.

j THIS DAY. [Pee " Stab's" Pigeon Express.] The steady rain which fell all day affected the attendance at the market considerably, but the business done, principally in the fat Bheep penß, was not in any way depreciated. Store Sheep. — About 2800 were yarded, of which the principal quantity were merinos from North Canterbury district, for which a fair demand existed and sales were effected at former rates: Other lines sold freely at a slight improvement in values. CrosE-bred lambs, in small lines, sold from 7s to 10i 6d, according to quality ; cross-bred ewes brought 63 lid, 83, 95, and 10s6d. Merino c wes in lamb sold at 2s lOd to 3s 8d for culled aortß, and sound-mouthed ewes at 43 lOd- Culled merino wethers brought from 2s lOd to 3s 6d, and sound-mouthed from 4s 6d to 5a 6d. Fat Sheep. — There was a large entry, comprising some very high-class sheep, together with a good proportion of good quality cross-bred . ewes and a sufficiency of merino and iuferior quality cross-bred ewes. The merino wethers were of a medium class, and the highest price secured was only 9s Bd. Cnsß-bred ewes of good quality sold from 11s 3d to 15a Id, and wethers and maiden ewes of the higher class ranged from 123 9d to 16s 2d. Some pens of very prime cross-bred wethers sold by Mr Tabart for Mr James Little, of Allandale, the author of the back-breeding system, were perfect models in mutton, and realised from 19s 4d to 19a 9d. Their carcases and skins were much admired. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company sold some very heavy weighted half-bred wethers, bred and reared by Mr John Gunn, jun., at 24s 6d, the highest price yet Becured this season, the size of the sheep being more remarkable than their symmetry and condition. With these exceptions the best wethers yarded ranged from 153 Id to 17s 3d. Fat Cattle.— Nearly 200 fat cattle were yarded, covering all different sorts, from the very inferior cow to some prime bullocks shipped from Palm era ton North last week by Mr G. Murray, of that place. There were 28 of these, which brought from .£8 2s fid to £B 153, or about 18s 6d per 1001 b. The rest of the entry was not above the average size or quality, and the best did not bring more than 183, while inferior sorts sold as low as 13s to 15s per 1001 b. Store Cattle. — Only seventy head, chiefly old cows, made up a poor entry, for which there waß very little demand, and the buyers of dairy covrs had not much to choose from. Pigs. — About 170 pigs, chiefly baconers and porkers, met with a fairly satisfactory market.
