WORK AND WAGES.
«. BAILWAY SERVANTS' SOCIETT. The quarterly general meeting of the members of the Canterbury branch of the A.S.B.S. took place last night at the Oddfellows' Chambers, Lichfield street, and was fairly attended. The Cbairman, in his opening address, gave a brief rSsumd of the quarter's proceedings, and pronounced the branch perfeotly sound, both financially and numerically. He exhorted the members to have faith in each other and in the Society's future power for good, which he said no doubt eventually would lead to the Sooiety becoming what it was originally intended to be— a boon to all railway employees. - The Auditors' report and balance-sheet were received and adopted, and some extensive alterations effected in the brunch by-laws. Pepmißsion was given to the Committee to re-admit persons who had become more than six months in arrears, on payment of the usual entrance fee, or on such terms as might be deemed to be in the best interests of the Society. It was reßolved to urge the Executive to hasten the establishment of the death fund, and the meeting closed with & vote of thanks to the Chairman.
