WELLINGTON, Jan. 18.
Mr W. N. Blair, the Engineer-in-Cbief, 18 dangerously ill. He has been suffering for some time from an affection of the kidneys, but bad regained his health sufficiently to leave the bouse. He worried, however, over the escape of prisoners from Milford Sound, which he waa told waß a reflection on his department, to such an extent as to bring on convulsions; and last night he was not expected to live. To-day Mr Blair haa recovered consciousness, and his medical advisers state tbat he ia certainly better, though still extremely iB.
