IRON AND BRASS FOUNDERS.
A largely-attended meeting of Iron and Brass Founders was held on Saturday night at the Al Hotel, to elect officers and to pay initiation fees, when Mr E. Eastwood was elected President, Mr H. Harrington Vice-President, Mr W. J. Smith Secretary, Mr J. Buchanan Treasurer, Messrs E. Cooper, sen. and T. Waddle Trustees, Messrs J. Bell and J. Hule Auditors. Forty members paid their initiation tee. The Secretary was instructed to apprise the parent Society in Dunedin of their proceedings. A Committee was appointed to revise the rules and to report to a summoned meeting to be held at the same place next Saturday night.
A meeting of Artisans and others was to have been )>«• d ut Rangiora on Friday night, tomovem the direction of obtaining a weekly half-holiday ; but, owing to the inclemency of the weather, and the faot of other meetings being fixed for the same evening, a postponement was decided upon. It iB understood that a meeting of shop assistants and others interested will be held at Sangiora within a few dayß, to further the early closing movement.
