THE KATE TATHAM.

The Difficulty Settled. The difficulty between the Lyttelton Wharf Labourers' Union and the Captain of the barque Kate Tatham, was settled this morning. Mr Edwards, Secretary of the Railway Employees' Union, went to Lyttelton at 8 a.m., to issue the orders to the members of the Union not to hoist, handle, or haul the cargo from the vessel until the Captain complied with the demands of the Wharf Labourers' Union. Captain Munroe then asked the wharf labourers to contract for the discbarge of the cargo; This they are forbidden to do by the rules of their Union,.. and Captain. .Munroe then applied to the stevedores to do the work, which he previously wished his own crew, who are non-Union men, to do. As the stevedores employ Union men this was a settlement of the difficulty. The wharf labourers hoisted their flag at five minuteß past nine, and went to work on the vessel.
