Thb City Council Oveedbaft.— The City Council have reduced their overdraft by over .£2OOO. A fortnight ago the overdraft was .£-021 Os sd. Last night it was reported to be .£5837 5s ld. Sydenham Bobough Council. — The fortnightly meeting of this Council waß held last night. A considerable amount of business was transacted, of which a report is published elsewhere. The Contagious Diseases Act. — A.t the Sydenham Borough Council last night, a unanimous vote was passed in favour of bringing this Act into operation in Christchurch and the suburbs, and the representative on the Hospital Board was ordered to be informed thereof. A Pbiest Invalided. — The Eev Father O'Connor, of Eangiora, has suffered so much since being attacked with "la grippe " that his medical adviser has recommended his removal to Christchurch for consultation. The rev gentleman is now at the Presbytery, Barbadoes street; The Gladstone Tbophy.— A team representing the E Battery of Artillery fired at the Gladstone Hotel range last night for Mr H. Saunders' trophy. The following are the scores : — Nicholson 35, Sinclair 34, Kermode 33, Louisson 33, Weir 33, Bertie 33, Gurney 32, Lowry 30, Treleaven 30, Soper 28 ;. total 321. CHBISTCHUBCH NOETH. —Mr E. W. Humphreys, member for Christchurch North, addressed his constituents last night, and received a vote of thanks and confidence. A report of his address I appears elsewhere. Cycling. — A fully attended Committee ' meeting of the Pioneer Bicyole Club waß held last evening, the captam, Mr J. H. Parker, presiding. A date waß fixed for the annual Cinderella, and for a home trainer competition for th© Club championship. A smoke concert waa also arranged. After accounts had boen passed for payment the meeting adjourned,
