ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
The best practice match of the season was played on Saturday. The muster was a very good one, and sides were chosen by Hall (Colours) and Maude (White). In the first half the Whites made the pace aregularcracker, and pressed during the greater part. Only one goal fell to them— from a corner. The second ppell was not quite so fast, and a3 the Whites' forwards had exhausted themselves in their earlier efforts, the Colours attacked in strong force. Try ao they would, however, no score followed, and tho victory rested with Maude's men by one goal to nil. It is very evident that some of the new players will develop into first-class men, as week by week they show improved play under the new arrangement. Dividing into four Clube, there is no doubt that the competition will result in faster and more scientific play. The game is slowly but surely gaining ground, and it is to be hoped that next year will 3ee a number of teams in and about Christchurch.
