AMALGAMATED LABOUR UNION.
The above Union met on Saturday evening at the Temperance Hall, Gloucester street. There was a large attendance of members, the Acting-President in the chair. A motion waa brought forward re admitting employers of labour S3 members of the Union, and led to a long discussion, come members thinking it would be better for employers and employees to meet and discuss matters, others considering if once employers were allowed in the Union they would try to smash the it up. One member thought that by having both master and man as members a satibfactory log could be arranged. After I several members had spoken, it was decided to let the matter stand over to j Saturday, July 12. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Secretary of the Protection Association to arrange to receive a deputation on Saturday, July 12, j at 9 p.m. Nominations of the following officers were received : — President, VicePresident, Trustees, Treasurer, Secretary, Auditor, and Minute Clerks, the election to be held at next meeting. The matter of having a labour bureau in connection with the Union was ordered to stand over until next meeting. Several accounts were passed for payment, eighteen new members were proposed and duly elected, and the meeting closed with the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman.
