Concert at Lxttelton. — A concert will be given in the Lyttelton Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday eveuingf, by the Victoria Minstrels, in aid of St Joseph's Presbytery. '. Amalgamation of City and Suburbs. — The Conference of representatives of ' the City Couucil and the suburban local bodies to consider the question of amal- j gamation, is to take place at the City ' Council Chambers, at 3 p.m. to-morrow. Draughts. — A Committee meeting of the Christchurch Draughts Club was held j last night in the Club-room, Hereford ! _ street, when the business for the annual ' meeting to-morrow was arranged. Among i the recommendations of the Committee is j one for the holding of a Draughts Tournament for members of the Club only, on whut is known as the knock-out system, similar to the one lately held in Dunedin. A . large amount of other business was tran« • sacted. Draughts players generally are - 1 cordially invited to attend the annual meeting. * Misplaced Confidence. —On Monday ! bhe Kaiapoi police took possession of some r clothing left in the outbuildings of a farm ' belonging to Mr -Merrin, Kaiapoi Island, i on the instructions of Mr Merrin, who com- j plained of casual visitors using his shed. ■ This morning Constable Cartmill, having 1 received a description of a man " wanted," in connection with two others under arrest, for stealing five hams, and having * his eye on some new arrivals, was again T perusing the description, when aknock came to his door, and a visitor called to claim theclotheß aforesaid.
