ST MARY'S, HALSWELL.
The Easter meeting of the parishioners was held in the church on Friday la the Eev H. East, incumbent, presiding. The churchwardens presented their statement of the parish accounts for the past year, which showed the receipts to have been .£93 5s 7d, and the expenditure £Q7 7s lid. The deficiency had arisen in consequence of the cemetery account having received no income during the year to meet the part-payment of the sexton's salary. The revenue from offertories had increased. The statement was adopted. The Chairman nominated Mr S. Garforth as incumbent's churchwarden, and Mr C. B. Candy was elected parishioners' warden. The following gentlemen were elected vestrymen : — Messrs W. E". Foster, A. Penny, S. Bingham, S. Sparks, H. Trott, J. Wright, C. Ell, Brown, Si Mather, and A. C. Wilson. Votes of thanks were- passed to the churchwardens and vestrymen, the Sunday. School teachera, the choiu, the organists, the auditors, and* the sexton and his wife, for their seiraices during the past year ; and a similar vote was accorded to Mrs Binghaxa, who. retires from tbe Sunday School, for her Jaithful Be»viceaas a teacher during many years. The usual compliment to the Chairman terminated the meeting.
