Drunkenness. — A woman arrested on Oxford terrace, and who made her first appearance in Court, was fined ss, with the usual penalty in default of payment. AliiEged.lnteusj.on. — Alexander M'Neil was charged with being illegally on. the premises of Charlea Alger, at Linwood, ar^d* further with damaging a door, the property of tbe same complainant, to the extent of ss, on Feb. 10. Complainant stated that late that night soma one. btoke a panel of his front door, 8;/id op going out he found accused in close proiimity to the house. Defendant swore that he had been visiting a friend next door, and was never inside complainant's garden. Case dismissed. Alleged Assault. — David Henry Cuff was charged by his wife, Catherine Cll% with assaulting her at Opawa, on April 11, and she prayed that he might be bound over to keep the peace towards her. Complainant called a neighbour, Mrs Bray, who said she saw defendant throw a clog at his wife on one occasion, and a Mrs Stevens testified that she had seen complainant run for her life three times during the past six months. Defendant denied Mb wife's assertion that he had struck her on the back, and stated that on the day mentioned he went home and found no food ready, and in consequence of something his wife said, he put her out of the door by the " scruff "of the neck. The Bench dismissed the case, recommending the parties to try and live more amicably together.
