THE CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION
A meeting of the Committee of the Canterbury Cricketing Association was held at Warner's Hotel last night. There were present — Messrs H. Wynn- Williams (President) in the chair, R. D. Harman, L. ArCuff, F. C. Gerard, W. Hopper and A. Cant. The President reported satisfactory progress in the collection of subscriptions towards the general expenses, having received £4D from the public in three days. He had provided the College boys with a hundred tickets at his own expense, the conditions being that they appear in their College hats and that they get a half-holiday, which Mr Bare granted. Mr Mearea had asked him to excuse his attendance that evening, but he and Mr Rhind had made all the necessary arrangements for the smoke concert. It was decided that both teams be presented with tickets for the concert, and that others be Buppliod at two shillings each. Mr Cuff reported having arranged with Mr Delamain for two four-horse drags to drive the teams to Sumner on Sunday, and Mr Morton was to provide luncheon there. Tenders were opened for the publican's booth on the ground, and that of Mr Simmons (£6) was accepted; also that of Mr Minchinton (£1) for the confectioner's stand. It was decided that the half-crown tickets presented and delivered up on the first day, should admit two persons. This rule &ot to apply to the second day. Arrangements were then mada for the gate-keeping. If; was decided that the luncheon adjournment be taken between one and a quarter to two each day. Mr E. Davis, of the New South Wales team, had given a ball for the best bowling average made during the match. Mr-Cuff Btated that the visitors would be taken up the river in boats on Sunday, and they would start from the Clarendon at noon. This concluded the business.
