AUCKLAND, Nov. .18. Mr S. J. Ambary was- elected Mayor of .ITewten. unopposed. ENQUIRY. A preliminary enquiry into the wreck -of the Flying Venus was held to-day before the Collector of Customs. The •evidence.is.to-be sent to Wellington. EDUCATIONAL. The Auckland bran chof the -Educational; Institute have passed a vote of condolencewith the widow of the late R. J. O'Sullivan. They have also agreed to a motion expressingtheir sense of the services, rendered to the cause of education in thisdistrict byMr Fidler, who has just resigned., -Ms-poeilion.as Inspector.
