Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association.

THIS DAY. A meeting of the General Committee of the above Association was held at the Junction Hotel, liangiora, at 10 a.m. today. There were twelve members present ; and, in the absence of the President, Mr W. Buss was voted to the chair. The Chairman stated that the meeting had been called to allow of an approximato balance-sheet in connection with the exhibition being placed before them. They had commenced the year with a debit balance of .£203, which moneys yet to come in would slightly reduce. The statement in connection with the recent exhibition showed : — Receipts : subscriptions £186, 1888-89 accounts collected £31 Is, advertisements in catalogue £14i, entrieß for show £171 9s, gate money £88 15s 4d, catalogues £10 16s, privileges £50 9s, private prizes £115 10s Gd, horse parade £9 16a, total £677 16s lOd ; expenditure : pride money £417 4s 6d, printing: £83 4a Bd, luncheon for judges £18 11s, Secretary's salary and commission £28 8s Gd, labour £15 19s, sundry accounts £123 3s 2d, total £686. Balance profit, 1889, £91 5s Bd. The statement was received with applause and the Chairman remarked that the result proved that, given^fine weather for the Show, the Association could bo carried on without running into debt. Mr G. Cone moved — " That the approximate statement be received, and that the Treasurer be empowered to pay prize money and accounts after the first Tuesday in December." This was seconded by Mr Leggett and agreed to. A letter was received from Mr D. Dick, complaining that a horse entered by him had not been taken in charge by the Class Stewards and placed at ita proper stand to be judged. MrLeggitt, one of the Class Stewards, explained that Mr Dick's horse was brought inside the gate and tied up ; and the Stewards knew nothing of its being on the ground. It was the duty of the man in charge of the exhibit to hand it over to the care of the Stewards. A vote of thanks was passed to the Chairman, and the meeting ended.
