DRAINAGE BOARD.

Ordinary Meeting. THIS DAT. An ordinary meeting of the Christchurch District Drainage Board was held at 2.30 p.m. to-day; present — Messrs J. Deaus (Chairman), J. W. M'Alpine, J. H. Hopkins, W. H. Stevens, H. Bonnington, J. Bowman, and C. J. Mountfort. An apology was made for the absence of Mr Crooks. chairman's statement. The Chairman reported that the solicitors to the Board did not think that the Board was liable for the damage done to Mr Crompton's horse, owing to the subsidence of the roadway at the junction of Madras and Armagh streets. In regard to Mr R. W. England's claim for land taken for the widening of the Wilderness road drain, the solicitors were of opinion that all extra charges involved in sending Home the deed of easement for execution by the mortgagee should be borne by Mr England. In connection with Mr Hopkins' notice of motion proposing sundry alterations and additions in the method ! of preparing the annual accounts and ! balances ho had instructed the Secretary to obtain the opinion of the auditors on the matter, and the following reply had been received from Mr A. M. Ollivier: — "Mr Craig and I, after consultation, are of opinion that the accounts and annual statements as at present in force are ample and sufficient for all purposes. The information presumably sought for by the notice of motion is annually supplied to the Board by the Secretary in a concise and intelligible form. Mr Craig has rerequested me to reply for him as well as myself." REPORTS. The Engineer reported that the repairs to the storm-water sewer in Madras street had been satisfactorily completed, and that there was no sign of the damage extending. He hoped that the sewer might stand in its present state for some time to come. The report was approved. [Left sitting.]
