Johnston was elected Mayor to-day unoppoaed. THAMES, Nov. 19. Messrs James M' Andrew and Edwin G. Boon were to-day nominated for the Mayoralty. School op Engineering and Tech--nical Science. — Yesterday, the Board of Governors o£= Canterbury College decided j to offer Mr B. J. Scott, who formerly acted , as lecturer to the classes on Engineering, the appointment of Lecturer-in-charge of the School of Engineering and Technical Science, at a salary of jessO per annum, without fees. Mr E. Dobaon was appointed Lecturer on Civil Engineering for the year 1890, at a salary of .£175 per annum, without fees. Mr Scott, if he accept the position, is to devote the whole of hiß time to the duties of his lectureship, which will include giving instructions in mechanical engineering and other branches of technical education to evening popular classes, as well as to University students. Hitherto, the lecturer has devoted a portion of his time only to the work, which consisted of lectures on mechanical engineering to College students and evening claaa^afld received. .ei£>o;and the -leotnogv
