At half-paßt ten o'clock this morning His Excellency the Governor.accompauied by Mr Walrond, paid a visit to Canterbury ; College. He was met and welcomed on i tho threshold by Mr Malet, the Chairman of the Board of Governors, and several members of the Board. In company with these gentlemen His Excellency passed through the College buildings. A considerable number of students were present, aud they heartily cheered His Excellency as he passed out. Lord Onslow then drove to Christ's College, where he was received j by the governing body and other geutle- ; men, the Eight Rev the Bishop, the Very Rev the Dean, the Revs C. Bowen and } F. A. Hare, the Hons W. Rolleston and J. B. A. Acland, and Mr C. C. Bowen forming the party. The College Cadets, under their instructor, Captain TJ. V. Richards, presented arms as His Excellency alighted. After going over the buildings His Excel- ■ lency went to the Museum, whore the I Curator, Mr H. O. Forbes, was waiting to I receive him, together with ,Mr Malet and other members of the Board, j The Governor was to visit the Kaiapoi Factory about 3 p,.m., and to be Bbown over by Mossrs Blackwell and Peacock, Directors, and Leithead, Manager. Ho will doubtless express satisfaction with what he sees. The Kaiapoi Natives' loyal address will then be presented by Wi Naihira. This afternoon His Excellency drove out to Belfast to pay a private visit to the meat freezing works, whence he will proceed to Kaiapoi, and inspect the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company's buildings.
