His Excellence the Governor.— Mr Murphy, -Secretary of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, has received a letter from the aide-de-camp to His Excellency the Governor, intimating His Excellency's intention of being present at the luncheon at the forthcoming Metropolitan Show. Knights of Labour. — A meeting of the Executive Committee of the New Zealand Knights of Labour was held at Hereford Btreet on Monday evening last, Vice-Presi-dent Douglass in the chair. The action of the Acting-Secretary, in sending copies of newspapers containing the published report re miners' strike in New South Wales, to the various leading wording men's associations in the Australian Colonies, was approved. A Committee was appointed to draw up a series of reports to be sent to the Lyttelton Times and Press, as it had come to the knowledge of several members of the Association that the papers named were not kept fully informed of the working of the different Trades Unionß in Christchurch and other parts' of New Zealand. The Acting-Secretary was instructed to make full enquiries, and draw up a report for presentation at the meeting next Friday evening, as to the existence of the " sweating system "in Christchurch. It was decided that as, at the next monthly meeting, to be held at the Druids' Hall on Friday, Nov. 2, the nomination of officers wiil take place, the hall be thrown open, and the public invited to attend.
