[Pan Pmbb Assooiatiow._ SAD DEATH. WESTPORT, Oct. 27. A man named Sykes died to-day in the hospital. He accidentally injured his foot on.a_locomotrve & week ago, and erysipelas set in. Deceased was formerly a contractor in Nelson and elsewhere. SUICIDE. DUNEDIN, Oct. 28. On' Saturday afternoon W. M'Lauchlah, residing at St John's Wood, North-east Valley, committed suicide by hanging himself while his wife was absent. He appears to have thrown a rope over the parlourdoor, making a noose on the other eide. He was in very well-to-do circumstances, •owning a good deal of properly at Port Chalmers, but he had suffered some losses, .and-these have worried him greatly. He leaves a wife and three children.
