THE RAILWAY LINES.

Landslips in the Weka Pass. Break at Waitaki. The continuous heavy rains naturally did some damage to the railway lines, the most serious being to the northern line in the Weka Pass. With regard to this our Eangiora correspondent telegraphed at midday : — " The cause of the delay in the arrival of the train from Waikari thio morning was three small landslips in the Weka Pass. They were not very extensive, and were cleared away sufficiently to allow the train jto pass through two hours and twenty minutes late, the first train to the North passing the down train at Amberley. The obstruction iB now disposed of satisfactorily. The Eaiiway Department, in order to avoid unnecessary delay, despatched the Eyreton train, on its arrival at Kaiapoi, to Eangiora to bring on passengers from the North, and they reached town about midday." At Waitaki there was a small break of an unimportant character, which was repaired in a very short time, and it should offer no obstacle to the proper running of the southern express.
