CRICKET.
♦ THE AUSTRALIANS v. ENGLAND. [Spbcial to Press Association.] LONDON, Augubt 4. In the match against the Eleven of England th« Australians made 168 in their first innings, the highest scores being M'Donnell 86, Lyons 32, and Jams 23. The English. Eleven were unable to stand against the bowling of Turner, and the last wicket fell for the small total of 53. The local team therefore had to follow on, and have lost one wicket for six runs. In the first .innings Turner secured eight wickets for ' thirteen runs. The wicket played slow, and waa in favour of the bowlers. August 5. In the cricket match against the Australians, the Eleven of England made only 88 in their second innings, the Australians thus winning by an inniugs and 27 runs. In the second innings of the local men, Shilling was the highest scorer, with 28 not out. Turner waa almost unplayable, and (?) wickets fell to him for 37 runs. The attendance was small, and the weather
cloudy.
