I WELLINGTON, July 17. i A meeting of members, who support the i Central Ofcago Railway Bill was held yesterday afternoon. There were nineteen 1 present, and Mr Pyke was voted to the ; chair. The purpose for which the meeting { was called was to consider how the progress . of the Bill, through Parliament, could be i effected. It is believed that it will not meet with much opposition in the Council, i l>ut the spirit in which the Sill irae blocked I fox six ot seven hours in the House last i Thursdaynight madeitmanifestthatstrong i obstruction would have to be fought ! against in the House. The question was • diesussed for some time, and, eventually, i it was decided that a deputation, consisti ing of Messra Pyke, Downie Stewart, Allen, . Barron, and E. Richardson should wait on . the Government with a view' to urging ' Ministers to give special facilities for the Bill being put through in the House.
