NORTH CANTERBURY RIFLE CLUB.

The Committee of this Club met at the Junction Hotel, Eangiora, last evening, Mr J. Sansom presiding. A letter was read from the Christchurch Club with reference to the proposed quadrangular match, stating that, owing to the diversity of wishes expressed by the Clubs interested respecting the local conditions and date ot the competitions, their Club had decided to test the practicability of the quadrangular match by fixing it to be fired at Chrißtchurch on Nov. 9, ten men a-side, 200, 300, and 500 yards, seven shots at each. On the motion of Mr F. Gulliver it was resolved — "That if the Kowai Club cannot fire on Nov. 9 it be suggested that the match bo put off until the whole of tho four Clubs are able to shoot ; and that it be held on the Eangiora or Kaiapoi range as being more central. It was agreed to hold a general meeting on tho range at the next regular competition, to consider the question of reducing the price of sighting shots from sixpence to threepence each. One of the members of Committee stated that the Christchurch E _serva Corps wore anxious to fire a match with the Club, and it was decided to challenge tbem for an early date, rifleß* to be

either Bemington-Lee or Snider. On the motion of Mr G*. Gulliver it was agreed to give a trophy, value one guinea, to the highest scorer in any foreign match during the season. An application from the volunteers foi the use of the target for the match with the City Guards, on Saturday, was granted, and the meeting then terminated.
