>YELLINGTON, Jolt 27. Two handled and eighty pounds of gun cotton, in four charßes, was;fircd At the submerged hulk, Bli Whitney, off the end of the Railway wharf this evening. The explosion -iraa felt, over a great part of the town, and a large number of fish were killed, but little Jimber came to the butfaoe, and it is not Jet known whether the attempt has been vxote euccessfulthan tbe foimeK experiments in the same direction.
