NEW MINING EEGULATIONS.

The Colonial banks are anxious to reduce the rates of interest on deposits, and efforts are being made to effect this ; but as these rates are guided by the rates current in the sister Colonies, nothing can be done until a reduction is made by them.
The Mining department are busy preparing regulations under the new Act, which comes into force at New Year. Under these, ante-dated miners* rightsjwill he abolished ; the fee will be reduced to ss, and mining leases to 10s per acre for the "first two yearSj rising afterwards to 15s andjEl.
